Adult, Higher, and Community Education Retreat:
Let’s Learn and Play Together.
At the Picnic Shelter Area Southwest Corner of the Football Stadium (near Bethel and Tillotson) on the Ball State Campus, Muncie, IN.
Join us to reconnect and prepare for the upcoming year.
We welcome all AHCE students – Master’s and Doctoral programs - those at the beginning and at the end of the program. We want to meet and greet everyone in the program, and provide community to those in the dissertation stage and those in the midst of classes. Please come, meet your colleagues, and help us prepare for the future of the program.
Purpose of Retreat: To create a stronger sense of community; to raise and answer questions about AHCE; to welcome new and continuing students; and to celebrate each other’s success.
9:00 – 9:30 a.m. Welcome: Time to interact and share coffee and community with faculty and students
9:45 – 10:45 a.m. Introductions, announcements, and discussion. (Information packet to be shared)
11:00-11:45 a.m. Break Out Sessions: Round 1
- Dissertation strategies, comprehensive exams, etc.
Facilitated by Dr. Mulvihill and a panel of students in the process. - Embracing graduate opportunities (conferences, international travel, and more)
Student Panel Facilitated by Mervin Chisholm
12:00 – 12:45 p.m. Break Out Sessions: Round 2
- Where do we go from here? Career opportunities.
Facilitated by: Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Dudka
- How to start publishing (resources from journals, publishing houses, etc.).
Facilitated by: Dr. Merriweather Hunn and Dr. Hyman
12:45 – 1:30 p.m. Lunch with the community.

From I69: Exit at 332 East (McGalliard Road) and come in to Ball State University Campus on Tillotson. The Picnic area is located southwest of the Football Stadium near the Alumni Center.
