We are happy to accept donations for the Adult, Higher, and Community Education program in the Department of Educational Studies.

 

This money is used by the department to support activities such as the AHCE retreat, scholarships, and other activities.

Each year in the Spring, we provide scholarships for a doctoral student in the way of the:

Dr. James H. McElhinney Scholarship

The Dr. James H. McElhinney Annual Scholarship is an endowed scholarship designed to support graduate students in Adult, Higher, and Community Education, as they enhance their professional competence through graduate study. This scholarship fund was established in January of 2001 and is open to students enrolled in or applying to the graduate program in Adult, Higher, and Community Education at Ball State University.

Applicants for this scholarship MUST complete the following:

  1. Complete and submit the application form. Contact the office - 765-285-5461 for an application form.
  2. Write three brief narratives and attach each to the application as described
  3. As two references who are familiar with their potential to profit from graduate education to send letters of recommendation directly to the chairperson of the scholarship committee at the address below:
  4. Forward transcripts from each college/university you have attended directly to the address below:

Eligibility: Preference for student selection is in the following priority.

Note: The scholarship committee may decide not to offere the scholarship in any given year.

  1. Doctoral students in the Adult, Higher, and Community Education Program.
  2. Graduate students in Adult and Community Education, Curriculum, Executive Development for Public Service, or Student Affairs in Higher Education.
  3. Graduate students in areas related to those listed above.
  4. Awards will be made without regard to age, race, creed, color, religion, physical or mental disability, sex, national orientation, ancestry, or sexual orientation.

Amount: The amount of the scholarship is limited to the accumulated interest from the corpus of the fund for that given year. We would be happy to use donations to increase that fund.

Selection Committee: The selection committee comprises Dr. James H. McElhinney and the full-time faculty in the Adult, Higher, and Community Education program.
